Happy New Years

I have really been blessed in 2013 . My kids and I are healthy and I am able to follow my dreams. Well I had never dreamt of becoming an author but I have always wanted to be in business for myself. I am the CEO of Amazing Grace Childcare (my home daycare). I am the CEO of Forever Divas Fashionable Jewelry (my online jewelry store) and the CEO of Charming Gal Publications. This year I have designed jewelry that women loved and I have self-published two novels, one poetry book, one short story and one children’s book. I am so grateful for all the readers that have read my work and told me that they enjoyed what they read and that they want me to keep putting out good books. I am grateful for all of my new author friends and the others that I have met in the literary business. I pray that I continue to meet new readers and that I will build great friendships in the New Year. I hope everyone has a prosperous 2014.

Excerpt for Golden

“Who did this to you?” Ms. Thomas cried out. She continued without waiting for me to answer. “Golden, your face is busted up pretty badly, you are going to need medical attention. Ms. Jones call the paramedics and when they arrive, direct them to my office.” Ms. Jones didn’t say a word as she walked out and followed Ms. Thomas’ demands.
“Golden, please talk to me, Sweetie, you know you can confide in me,” she said as she held me in her arms.
It had been a long time since I had felt a warm, tender, caring touch and not a touch that would scar me or leave me with guilt and humiliation. I held on to her tightly and sobbed in her arms as I thought of all I had been through the past year. When I finally built up the strength and courage to talk to her, I pushed away from her and that’s when I saw the blood from my face all over her shoulder.
“Ms. Thomas, I’m so sorry for ruining your shirt. I didn’t know I was bleeding that bad.”
“It’s okay, Golden,” she said reassuringly. “What I need from you right now is for you to tell me what happened to you,” she said as she looked me in my eyes.
 Something about the sincerity in her voice made me believe she could help me, let me know she was trustworthy. Before I could stop my mouth from moving, I spoke, “I came here because you are the only one I can trust, there is no one else I can talk to. I need you Ms. Thomas. I have so much pain inside of me and I need to let it out before I go crazy. Uhhhhhhh”, I yelled as I felt the pressure in my chest.
“Ok Golden, just breathe. Take a seat and just calm down. Here, let me wrap my coat around you, you’re cold and wet from being in the rain. You don’t have to talk right now. I am going to get you to a hospital and I’m going to go with you. I don’t want you to work yourself up, so just relax” she said, trying to make me comfortable.
“Ms. Thomas, you don’t know the life I’ve been living and I want out. Promise me that I will never have to enter my home again! Please, promise me,” I begged.
“I’ll make sure you’re in a safe place, I promise you. Just breathe girl, before you pass out,” she said, full of concern.
She placed my head against her chest and gently rubbed the back of my head. I swallowed hard as a lump of fear rose from my stomach to my throat. What would I say to anyone who asked me what happened? I began to shake. I didn’t know what was going on.
The EMTs came into the office and checked my vitals before putting me on a stretcher and pushing me to the ambulance. Ms. Thomas stayed by my side the whole time. But I could never tell her or anyone the whole truth because he would kill me.

OMG I was having such a tough time last night trying to upload my illustrations for my children’s book to the manuscript on Word. But then my daughter came to my rescue. Thank you Jesus because I didn’t want to come out of my pockets to pay anyone lol. She is my little genius. We got it to get and it is perfect. I am so excited about I Love Myself As I Am, my first children’s book coming in December. For those of you that have been patiently waiting on Golden my novel that was supposed to drop on the 18th. I am sorry but I had some minor setbacks but it will be out before the end of this month. I want to give my readers my best. It’s coming soon. Thanks for all the inboxes that I get from my wonderful readers and the reviews. I appreciate you all.

WOW is all I can say!! The good news just keeps coming. This morning a Librarian at my local library told me that she chose my novel to be in their book discussion. Just about an hour ago I received a inbox from Philly Horizon-books that said that they sold out all the books that I sent them last week and they need more a.s.a.p. :) YAY. Synopsis 

Alisha, Brittany and Tyra have been best friends since high school, sharing everything from clothes to their most intimate thoughts. But when the secrets they all kept pulled them farther and farther apart, the friendship that once meant so much to them took a backseat to pain, anguish and betrayal of the worst kind.

Tyra Bell is a single mother, who has had her share of heartbreaks and disappointments from the pathetic men in her past relationships. While becoming accustomed to her walk as a Christian, Tyra’s faith is shaken to its core when she receives devastating news.

Brittany Parker is the epitome of a “kept” woman. This self-centered house wife of a successful medical doctor lives her life under the premise that life (hers at least) is too perfect to have a care in the world. That is until she runs across someone who shatters the life she once thought to be so perfect.

Alisha Wright is a struggling mother of two. She would go to any measure to stay in a relationship with her son’s father which results in putting both her and her children in harm’s way.

These three women are each on a dangerous path that promises to destroy life as they know it and ultimately take each one of them out in the process.

Dedicated to raising her family, she unselfishly sacrifices her own joys and desires to efficiently meet her responsibilities as a mom. Alisha’s children are not the only people who enjoy the fruit of her toil and selflessness. She would go to any measure to stay in a relationship with her son’s father and he knows it. Will his manipulation and deception lead her to abandon her priorities? Alisha needs her friends for support but insists on baring this heartache on her own. As the lives of these friends unfold they each have opportunities to reflect. It is then secrets and truths are revealed. Will the secrets ruin their lifelong friendships? When the time comes, these three women will have some difficult choices to make. Their lives won’t ever be the same.

I Follow my dreams and stand strong on my own two feet even when they ask "why" and when they say "I can't". I say "because I believe in myself" and "I can". BOOM! Now sit back and watch me soar.

I was so touched by her words. As I spoke to her and told her that I wrote this book to inspire others and to show young women that if they had a dark past they can still have a bright future. As I spoke to her and told her what my goals are for this book and for my upcoming books she said "girl you giving me chills just listening to you speak about what your dreams are". I met writer,novelist and professor Jamaica Kincaid

Have any one ever read a novel by writer, novelist and professor Jamaica Kincaid? She was the main speaker at the Authors! Authors! event at a local library in my area. She stated that her mother punished her by making her read the bible and dictionary over and over again. I really learned a lot from her. I picked up her audio book on CD and I listen to it in my car. I really like her style of writing. If I didn't her her story I wouldn't have even though about listen to her CD. The book is called SEE NOW THEN .I am glad I went.

I want to become a successful Author

I woke up this morning and I hit the books. I am not just trying to be another author, I want to be a successful self published author. I know it will take time and knowledge. I love learning new things. I am reading Self-Publishing for Dummies and I am reading Become A Successful Author, both books are very helpful. Thanks for reading my blog please leave a comment and tell me what you think!

The characters in my novels

When people read my books I want them to get to know the characters. I want them to be able to feel each character emotions. I just don’t pick up my pen and write. I think first and the characters just pop into my mind. At night, sometimes I can’t sleep because I get an idea in my head; I get up and write it down. At that moment I might write a whole chapter because I have to get it on paper while the ideas are fresh in my mind. Thanks for reading my blog, please leave a comment!

My World, Through My Eyes is a heartfelt collection of poems, reflections, and prayers that represent the trials and triumphs of the poet’s past.
As a teen, Charmaine found joy in writing in her journal. It was therapeutic as it allowed her to escape from the negativity of her world. She wrote all of her thoughts, feelings, and emotions on paper. Having a positive outlet for this emotion and creativity encouraged her to see that there IS positive light even within the hardships she has endured.

Charmaine believes that her purpose in life is to share her testimony of Faith. In this book, she shares one of the most valuable and essential lessons she has learned on her journey. Learning to Let Go and Let God intervene in her life and heal her from her sinful past has been the most life changing, validating, and peace yielding decision she has made for herself.
